Strategic planning & consulting
Most strategic plans die in the binder. Ours ship.
We facilitate strategic planning for universities, schools, health systems, associations and nonprofits — the engagements where the hard part isn't writing the plan, it's getting a divided room to agree on one and then actually executing it.
Who we do this for
Organizations, not
just businesses.
More than 200 strategic plans over three decades, across healthcare, higher education, technology, manufacturing and financial services. Our founder, Scott Regan, has sat on the client’s side of this work: Chief Operating Officer of Memorial Health, a 530-bed teaching hospital that earned a place on Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For,” and the executive who led a $40 million, 18-month turnaround at Jersey City Medical Center.
He taught graduate strategy, finance and leadership at Winston-Salem State University, and wrote the book this practice runs on. That experience is why we built our own planning software rather than delivering another PDF.

How we work
Five phases. The fifth
is where most firms leave.
Listen
Stakeholder interviews across leadership, faculty, staff and board. Quantitative work where the data exists, and honest acknowledgment where it doesn't.
Assess
Market position, competitive set, internal capability. What the organization believes about itself, tested against what the evidence supports.
Align
Working sessions that move a divided room to a shared set of priorities. This is the part that fails most often, and the part we are hired for.
Plan
Goals, strategies, tactics, owners, timelines and measures — written so the people who have to execute it can actually use it.
Execute
The execution management system goes in, and the plan lives in Stratello, not in a binder. Owners see their assignments, leadership sees movement, and the plan gets revisited instead of shelved.
The part nobody else brings
Every engagement gets an
execution management
system hardwired in.
Strategy consultants hand you a plan and leave. We install the system that makes the plan happen: accountability that has names on it, a cadence that survives the quarter, and scoreboards leadership actually looks at.
It isn't improvised. It's the methodology Scott Regan wrote in 10 Secrets of Execution, refined across engagements with universities, health systems and national brands — and it comes standard with every planning engagement we run.
Accountability
Every strategy has one owner. Not a committee.
Cadence
A standing rhythm of review that outlives the kickoff energy.
Scoreboard
Measures leadership can read in a minute, updated continuously.

We built the software
because the binder
kept losing.
Stratello holds the plan after the consultants leave. Every goal has an owner, every strategy has a measure, and leadership can see what has moved since the last board meeting without commissioning a status report.
Clients get it as part of the engagement. It is the difference between a plan you wrote and a plan you're running.
What you leave with
- ✓A written strategic plan your board can approve
- ✓Goals, strategies and tactics with named owners
- ✓Measures of success and a reporting rhythm
- ✓Stratello, configured to your plan
- ✓Facilitated sessions that produced actual alignment
Certified strategists who
also build the technology.
American Marketing Association and Digital Marketing Institute certified, with four software platforms built in-house. That combination is the whole argument: strategy that understands what is actually buildable, and software shaped by real engagements.

How ready is your organization
to actually execute?
Ten statements, one for each secret in 10 Secrets of Execution. Answer honestly — nobody sees this but you.
We have a hard limit on how many strategic priorities we take on at once — and we hold to it.
Every objective has a baseline, a target and a due date — we measure outcomes, not activity.
Every objective, strategy and tactic has one named owner. No shared ownership.
We review execution at least monthly, and the review focuses on what's off target.
We move on plans that are roughly right rather than waiting for certainty.
Our people have protected time to execute that isn't consumed by standing meetings.
Compensation and recognition are tied to results achieved, not effort expended.
Assignments are clear enough that they make sense read in isolation from the rest of the plan.
Every employee can connect their daily job to at least one organizational goal.
Our mission, vision and strategy visibly connect — strategy is the bridge between them.
